The gardens of the weald have long been acknowledged as some of the best in England and there location so close to London makes them easy to visit. In years gone by wealthy Londoners who were also keen gardeners used this area to display their green-fingered talents. The area is perhaps so good for gardening as it enjoys a mild climate, acid rich soil and is very fertile. It is lovely in all seasons, during the summer as wealth of roses is to be seen in bloom and the spring brings drifts of bluebells and daffodils.
